Claims
Just Down The Road
“Let’s face it: accidents happen. It’s not something that anyone likes to think about, but it’s a fact of life – and it’s important to always be prepared for life’s unexpected turns.
If you need to file an insurance claim, you can be sure that your claim will be handled promptly and with great care.”
Responsibilities and Expectations
This overview is designed to help you understand the customary responsibilities and expectations when facing a loss, claim, lawsuit, or any situation covered by your insurance policy. Remember, your insurance policy is the sole document defining your coverage and articulating the shared responsibilities between you and the insurance company. Importantly, this overview does not modify the terms of your policy in any way.
1. **Notify the Insurance Company Promptly:**
After any incident, it’s crucial to inform your insurance company as soon as possible. Document the time, place, and a thorough description of the event, including names and contact information for any injured persons and witnesses, along with all passengers involved. Ensure that you send copies of any demands, notices, summonses, or related legal documents promptly.

In cases involving theft or vandalism, promptly reach out to the police and any pertinent authorities to report the incident.
3. **Avoid Making Unapproved Statements:**
Refrain from providing any oral or written statements about the incident without prior approval from your insurance company. Avoid taking actions that might hinder the insurance company from claiming reimbursement from liable parties. It’s essential not to assume any obligations or liabilities, extend offers, or make payments (except for necessary first aid or immediate measures to prevent further property damage).
4. **Protect Your Property:**
Avoid abandoning your aircraft or insured property. Take reasonable steps to safeguard it immediately after the loss.
5. **Cooperate with Your Insurance Company:**
Maintain regular communication with your claims adjuster. You will likely be required to answer questions about the incident under oath, assist in gathering evidence, attend hearings and trials, and facilitate the testimony of witnesses.
6. **Property Inspection:**
Allow the insurance company to inspect any damaged property before you proceed with repairs or disposal.
7. **File Proof of Loss in a Timely Manner:**
Make sure to submit a proof of loss statement within the stipulated timeframe. This typically involves a sworn statement detailing the Named Insured’s interest and others in the affected property, any encumbrances, the property's value at the time of loss, and specifics such as the amount, time, place, cause of loss, and coverage details of other insurance
8. **Notify Authorities as Required:**
